Overview
Thermal break strips are poor conductors of heat. It thermally isolates the aluminium outer and inner frames from each other. This plastic insulating profile acts as a barrier preventing direct heat transfer through the highly thermally conductive aluminium profile.
As an environmentally friendly material, polyamide (nylon) is the best and most popular material for thermal break strips. Thermal break profiles made of polyamide PA66 offer significant advantages. Polyamide profiles do not release toxic gases in the event of a fire. On the other hand, the linear thermal expansion coefficient (linear elongation coefficient) of polyamide profiles is almost the same as that of aluminium profiles. Therefore, the polyamide profile is not subject to internal stresses after being pressed into the aluminium profile.
